GS.Grant Tag: Silver twist, canary yellow silk. Tail: A topping and Teal. Butt: Black herl. Body: Two turns of yellow silk and the rest green seal`s fur. Ribs: Oval tinsel, on large flies flat as well. Hackle: Green from yellow silk. Throat: A yellow cock hackle. Wings: Two tippets back to back, veiled with light and dark mottled Bustard, Gold pheseant tail, dark mottled Turkey and Swan or Turkey dyed green, (I prefer blue and yellow as well) Mallard and a topping. Sides: Jungel cock. Horn: Blue and yellow Macaw. Head: Black. |
This is for sure an evulotion of the older fly The Highlander,
which was included in Francis Francis Book on angling(1867).
The originator to The Green Highlander Mr.Grant was composing it in the late 1800's.

Ribs: Oval tinsel, on large flies flat as well. Hackle: Green. Throat: A lemon yellow cock hackle. Wings: Tippets in strands, yellow, orange and green Swan, Florican, Peacock wing and Gold pheasent tail veiled Barred Wooduckand and Teal, Mallard and a topping. Sides: Jungel cock. Cheeks: Indian Crow. Horn: Blue and yellow Macaw. Head: Black. |

I really prefer the original, orange and green is in my opinion no good combination.
